Edgard de Almeida breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Brock Friend in the 17th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Edgard de Almeida saved Montesclarense E.C. from getting behind. In the 18th minute, Duarte Félix got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Edgard de Almeida made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ye Hong Shi in the 20th minute of play. A collision led to Cruzeiro Esporte Clube getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Ye Hong Shi hit a great ball. Paulão Medeiros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arthur Bufi having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Montesclarense E.C.'s zone, Duarte Félix stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edgard de Almeida came out of the goal and Duarte Félix tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Paulão Medeiros got free with Arthur Bufi in the 33rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 37thth minute of the game Brock Friend who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Montesclarense E.C.'s Edgard de Almeida was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 41 played minutes Cruzeiro Esporte Clube got a freekick which was hit by Wanderson Bezerra. Montesclarense E.C.'s Paulão Medeiros got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 44 minutes, Brock Friend managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's supporters crossed their fingers, but Brock Friend was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ye Hong Shi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Edgard de Almeida tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

Edgard de Almeida showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Brock Friend in the 54th minute of the match. The corner led Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's Wágner Torres to fire away a dangerous shot which Edgard de Almeida despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Montesclarense E.C.'s André Luís Schmidt was substituted for Paulão Medeiros. Cruzeiro Esporte Clube made a substitution. Ramón Aguiar replaced Enrique de Mendonça. Edgard de Almeida made an important save on a dangerous shot by Brock Friend in the 62nd minute. Chants of Cruzeiro Esporte Clube echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Montesclarense E.C. had held the ball for most of the match.
