With an extended leg and a bit of luck Geovânio Hoffmann prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Leonel Messi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Geovânio Hoffmann tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Olímpico FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Cláudio Leão in the 46th minute. Olímpico FC's Cláudio Leão was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Alex Frasca in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.
