The audience thought a goal was coming when Wilson Matorin got free with Edvaldo Brasil in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Édouard Mendy didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Edgar Salles went, in the 22nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. In the 25th minute, Edgar Salles left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The SAS fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. 27 minutes into the match, Luiz Guilherme Paraense had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Édouard Mendy. Al-Fajuth's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luiz Guilherme Paraense was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-4. After some careless play in the Al-Fajuth defense, Agostinho Carneiro kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Édouard Mendy. The Al-Fajuth fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Édouard Mendy should have stopped the shot. Eliseu Alagoano recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Fabrício Brunovskis's late challenge caught a SAS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
