Armindo Maltez made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. After 13 played minutes Ponte do Carro got a freekick which was hit by Luís Falcão. In the 17th minute of the match Josué Pagueguy shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Armindo Maltez showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Ponte do Carro's Armindo Maltez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Roch Felenak in the 23rd minute of play. Dan Black received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Armindo Maltez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Armindo Maltez didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Roch Felenak went, in the 28th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. 30 minutes into the game, Benny Impens was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. La Pointe Courte's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ponte do Carro the free kick. The supporters of Ponte do Carro booed when La Pointe Courte was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benny Impens didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 32nd minute Roch Felenak shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Armindo Maltez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Ponte do Carro booed when La Pointe Courte was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Diogo Queirós didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 40th minute Roch Felenak shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Armindo Maltez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Roch Felenak in the 46th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Armindo Maltez saved Ponte do Carro from getting behind. In the 47th minute Gianluca Prestin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Armindo Maltez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 49th minute of the match La Pointe Courte got a corner. Ponte do Carro's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Josué Pagueguy ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led La Pointe Courte's Roch Felenak to fire away a dangerous shot which Armindo Maltez despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Roch Felenak in the 53rd minute of play forced Ponte do Carro's goalkeeper Armindo Maltez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ponte do Carro's Armindo Maltez proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 57th minute of the match, managed to save Ponte do Carro from getting a goal against them. Armindo Maltez was a little too slow when Roch Felenak got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 60th minute. The score was now 0-3. La Pointe Courte made a substitution. Armindo Maltez made a fantastic save in the 67th minute, when Yves Leite sent off a good shot on target. When the match had gone on for 68 minutes, Yves Leite put it in 0-4 from a short distance just to the right of Armindo Maltez. Jolan Galindo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gregório Jesus, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 75 minutes into the game, Luís Falcão threw the ball into play from the sideline. La Pointe Courte's Dan Black quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. After a rather tough play, Ponte do Carro's Gregório Jesus got a free kick in the 81st minute. In the 84th minute Loukianos Livas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jolan Galindo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ponte do Carro's Armindo Maltez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Yves Leite in the 85th minute of play. After having played for 95 minutes, Yves Leite managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. La Pointe Courte's supporters crossed their fingers, but Yves Leite was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. La Pointe Courte had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
