Ovidiu Adrian made a fantastic save in the 6th minute, when Nelson Haedo sent off a good shot on target. Club Olimpia's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Denis Inestrosa in the 7th minute. Ovidiu Adrian took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nelson Haedo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 13 minutes, Nelson Haedo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Club Olimpia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nelson Haedo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A hard shot 16 in the game by Nelson Haedo from a close distance when the talented Ovidiu Adrian managed to make a qualified save. Poli Timisoara's players were relieved. Club Olimpia's Rickard Soned managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Horst-Peter Unterberger in the 18 minute of the game. In the 27th minute Tiger De Hond shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alfredo Aguilar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 31 minutes, Nelson Haedo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. In the 46th minute Tiger De Hond shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alfredo Aguilar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mauro Primeiro stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute Tiger De Hond shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alfredo Aguilar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vilhelm Larsson kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. With a little luck, Club Olimpia's Alfredo Aguilar got control of the ball when Sascha Kulovitz tried to sneak it across the goal line. Alfredo Aguilar was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. A collision led to Club Olimpia getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Jack Hägglund hit a great ball. The Club Olimpia fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Poli Timisoara were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
