Jardel Sanches came out of the goal and Ahmet Refik Ülgü tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 9th minute, Ahmet Refik Ülgü ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jardel Sanches was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Ahmet Refik Ülgü sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ahmet Refik Ülgü in the 13th minute of play forced Grêmio FBPA's goalkeeper Jardel Sanches to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tanel Kiik made in the 14th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Grêmio FBPA's Nestor Leão. Grêmio FBPA's Jardel Sanches played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ahmet Refik Ülgü in the 17th minute of play. Tanel Kiik hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. With a little luck, FC CSKA's Georgi Velinov got control of the ball when Pipis Karapatakis tried to sneak it across the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ahmet Refik Ülgü in the 36th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jardel Sanches prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Pipis Karapatakis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Pipis Karapatakis's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Georgi Velinov read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 44th minute of play. Tanel Kiik hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. The Grêmio FBPA players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. FC CSKA were winning 0-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ahmet Refik Ülgü was the one to do the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Ahmet Refik Ülgü managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC CSKA's supporters rose to their feet, but Ahmet Refik Ülgü was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jardel Sanches breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 56th minute, Nestor Leão hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jardel Sanches showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ahmet Refik Ülgü, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. Ahmet Refik Ülgü might have been able to make a better finish in the 67th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jardel Sanches. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ahmet Refik Ülgü ran back to his position shaking his head. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ahmet Refik Ülgü got free with Jardel Sanches in the 67th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Pipis Karapatakis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. FC CSKA's Ruslan Dzhalev was substituted for Ahmet Refik Ülgü. A sloppy throw-in by Tanel Kiik in the 79th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Grêmio FBPA's Nestor Leão. Eriberto Berger's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Georgi Velinov read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 89th minute of play. FC CSKA's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
