Spectators: 39 (Terracing: 30, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Nelsinho Marinho started the match with the kick off. After some careless play in the Palestra do Interior defense, Benedito Mineiro kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Antônio Carlos Cavalcante. The Palestra do Interior fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Antônio Carlos Cavalcante should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Umberto Dionísio in the 12th minute of play forced Palestra do Interior's goalkeeper Antônio Carlos Cavalcante to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 12 minutes into the game, Ulysses Neto was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Palestra do Interior's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Castanheiro SC the free kick. A collision led to Palestra do Interior getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Ulysses Neto hit a great ball. In the 13th match minute, Palestra do Interior was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Doni Pimenta to maneuver through the defense. After 15 minutes of play, Castanheiro SC's Umberto Dionísio made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante was left in no man's land by his defense there! A collision led to Castanheiro SC getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Célio Vianna hit a great ball. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Umberto Dionísio in the 26th minute of the match. Nelsinho Marinho received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Pedrinho Guimarães came out and tried to block the shot, but Nelsinho Marinho slotted it home off the left post making it 1-2 in the 29th minute. Pedrinho Guimarães showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ronaldo Pirani, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante came out of the goal in the 44th minute to try and stop a shot by Castanheiro SC's Umberto Dionísio. But to his dismay, Umberto Dionísio quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. Disappointed in the 1-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Antônio Carlos Cavalcante had great luck who in the 52ndth minute grab hold of the ball when Benedito Mineiro from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. Benedito Mineiro had several of the Palestra do Interior's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 52 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-4 score and a disappointed Antônio Carlos Cavalcante as he didn't even see the shot coming. After 55 played minutes Castanheiro SC got a freekick which was hit by Anísio Alagoano. In the 58th minute of the match, Anísio Alagoano tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Antônio Carlos Cavalcante saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante made a fantastic save in the 68th minute, when Umberto Dionísio sent off a good shot on target. In the 69th minute, Palestra do Interior's Doni Pimenta seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Doni Pimenta the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Palestra do Interior protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Doni Pimenta had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Palestra do Interior made a substitution. Dinei Brito replaced Alex Toscano. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 69th minute of the game. One of Palestra do Interior:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Castanheiro SC:s goal. In the 72nd minute, Benedito Mineiro made a precise shot to the right of Antônio Carlos Cavalcante. Palestra do Interior's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-5. Umberto Dionísio could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 77th minute of the match, but Antônio Carlos Cavalcante made a huge save. In the 78th minute, Umberto Dionísio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Umberto Dionísio hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. After 80 played minutes Palestra do Interior got a freekick which was hit by Ronaldo Pirani. When the match had gone on for 84 minutes, Umberto Dionísio took a quick shot and it went in 1-6 without a chance for Antônio Carlos Cavalcante to make any attempt to save it. Anísio Carneiro kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match. Palestra do Interior's Antônio Carlos Cavalcante played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Benedito Mineiro in the 90th minute of play. Benedito Mineiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Palestra do Interior getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Delfim Quintal hit a great ball. When the final whistle sounded Castanheiro SC left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Palestra do Interior.
