Levan Poggenborg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without René Stam having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rogelio Crescencio got free with Florentino Herauso in the 6th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 12th minute of the match Las Palmas got a corner. Santa Lucia de Merlo's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Rogelio Crescencio ran over to the corner to take the kick. Rogelio Crescencio made a great header on Las Palmas's corner, it was just that Santa Lucia de Merlo's Florentino Herauso managed to reach the ball for a save. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Polo Quinteros managed to get in a good position for a shot. Santa Lucia de Merlo's supporters rose to their feet, but Polo Quinteros was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. René Stam breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Foro in the 23rd minute of play forced Santa Lucia de Merlo's goalkeeper Florentino Herauso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Polo Quinteros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Las Palmas's René Stam played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Polo Quinteros in the 25th minute of play. René Stam stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Polo Quinteros's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. Florentino Herauso was out of position in the 35 minute of play, and Darío Graabirk capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Darío Graabirk really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Polo Quinteros in the 38th minute of play forced Las Palmas's goalkeeper René Stam to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling M. Agus Young in the 62nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck René Stam prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If M. Agus Young had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. M. Agus Young had several of the Las Palmas's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 67 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-1 score and a disappointed René Stam as he didn't even see the shot coming. Santa Lucia de Merlo's Edmundo Nóbrega was substituted for Aldo Hartz. The audience thought a goal was coming when M. Agus Young got free with René Stam in the 76th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 78 minutes into the game, M. Agus Young cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. René Stam was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 80 played minutes Las Palmas got a freekick which was hit by Maximiliano Beturian. M. Agus Young scored 1-3 in the 86th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of René Stam, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 91st minute, M. Agus Young left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Santa Lucia de Merlo fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-4. René Stam showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from M. Agus Young in the 95th minute of the match. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Santa Lucia de Merlo eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
