In the 23rd minute of the match, Isidoro Beltran tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Hernan Firme saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Independiente's Pepe Santoro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Brun in the 25th minute of play. Thanks to some nice moves Arsenio Rito could shoot a difficult shot in the 28th minute, which Hernan Firme however easily saved by the left post. After having played for 30 minutes, Edgard Elixio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Unión y Progreso Tandil's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edgard Elixio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 36th minute, Saturnino Bertran hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Unión y Progreso Tandil getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Saturnino Bertran hit a great ball. Hernan Firme came out of the goal in the 39th minute to try and stop a shot by Independiente's Isidoro Beltran. But to his dismay, Isidoro Beltran quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Hernan Firme showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Isidoro Beltran in the 41st minute of the match. In the 41st minute, Isidoro Beltran made a precise shot to the right of Hernan Firme. Unión y Progreso Tandil's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Brun was the one to do the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Daniel Brun had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Pepe Santoro. Independiente's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Daniel Brun was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. After 55 played minutes Independiente got a freekick which was hit by Raimundo Frans. Cícero Moura blasted a shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Pepe Santoro having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Brun in the 63rd minute of play forced Independiente's goalkeeper Pepe Santoro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 65 minutes of play, Independiente's Isidoro Beltran made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Hernan Firme was left in no man's land by his defense there! Independiente's Pepe Santoro proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 71st minute of the match, managed to save Independiente from getting a goal against them. After 73 minutes Independiente's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Haroldo Berbiz who took care of the corner kick. Saturnino Bertran kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. Independiente's Ximenes Castilla was substituted for Arsenio Rito. Unión y Progreso Tandil made a substitution. Hernan Firme made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-1. Unión y Progreso Tandil's Daniel Brun got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Rene Erlantz fell near the penalty area in the 84th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Unión y Progreso Tandil's protests and gave Rene Erlantz a yellow card for diving instead. After 84 played minutes Unión y Progreso Tandil got a freekick which was hit by Rene Erlantz. In the 90th minute Albano Bertol shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hernan Firme saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Independiente were awarded a corner in the 91th minute after Unión y Progreso Tandil's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Raimundo Frans took the corner. After taking down the ball on Independiente's corner Raimundo Frans fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Hernan Firme quite easily take care of the ball. Hernan Firme took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Isidoro Beltran, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Unión y Progreso Tandil's Hernan Firme played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ximenes Castilla in the 94th minute of play. For all the effort they put into the match, the Unión y Progreso Tandil players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Independiente.
