Melquiades Salvatore made an important save on a dangerous shot by José Maria Leão in the 13th minute. Pedro Rojelio might have been able to make a better finish in the 20th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Telmo Andrade. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Pedro Rojelio ran back to his position shaking his head. José Maria Leão could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 25th minute of the match, but Melquiades Salvatore made a huge save. Melquiades Salvatore showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Henrique Alvarenga, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when José Maria Leão got free with Melquiades Salvatore in the 42nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 42 played minutes Club Atlético Atlanta got a freekick which was hit by Artemio Jaunti. After some careless play in the Club Atlético Atlanta defense, Henrique Alvarenga kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Melquiades Salvatore. The Club Atlético Atlanta fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Melquiades Salvatore should have stopped the shot. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Bonifacio Cresconio made a kick off. In the 52nd minute, Artemio Jaunti reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Telmo Andrade. The goal made the score 2-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by José Maria Leão in the 55th minute of play forced Club Atlético Atlanta's goalkeeper Melquiades Salvatore to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Teobaldo Milian kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. After 58 minutes, Artemio Jaunti mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Club Atlético Atlanta and the Atlético Capixaba players grew even worse after the yellow card. An unexpectedly hard shot by José Maria Leão in the 61st minute of play forced Club Atlético Atlanta's goalkeeper Melquiades Salvatore to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Atlético Capixaba's Mete Gol was substituted for Dalmo Saraiva. Aquiles Oihenarte hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. Club Atlético Atlanta's Melquiades Salvatore played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Maria Leão in the 77th minute of play. Melquiades Salvatore showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from José Maria Leão in the 81st minute of the match. Henrique Alvarenga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 83 played minutes Atlético Capixaba got a freekick which was hit by Dário Leme. Henrique Alvarenga recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 86th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 88th minute, Dário Leme hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Henrique Alvarenga took the ball and in the 92 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Melquiades Salvatore. Melquiades Salvatore dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. Melquiades Salvatore took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Silas Melo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
