Grêmio 20 Julho's Marcelo Passos got a good chance for a goal in the 10th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Gil Guerra made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kaká Goiano in the 15th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 16 minutes, Jael Jardel put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Sandrinho Sabóia. Sandrinho Sabóia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jael Jardel in the 21st minute of play. Grêmio 20 Julho were awarded a corner in the 23th minute after AF CERRADO's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. César da Silveira took the corner. After a rather tough play, AF CERRADO's Luiz Galvão got a free kick in the 24th minute. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that César da Silveira couldn't finish the play. Gil Guerra took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kaká Goiano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 35th minute Claudinho Toscano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sandrinho Sabóia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 36th minute Grêmio 20 Julho were awarded a corner. César da Silveira went to the cornerflag to take it. Jael Jardel took the ball and in the 38 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Sandrinho Sabóia. Sandrinho Sabóia dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. With his leg Gil Guerra managed to avoid a goal in the 46thth minute, when AF CERRADO's Kaká Goiano fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. AF CERRADO's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Richard Travassos in the 48th minute.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jael Jardel to make the kick off. Gil Guerra showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomás Schmidt in the 55th minute of the match. The supporters of AF CERRADO booed when Grêmio 20 Julho was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tomás Pirani didn't get a good kick on the ball. AF CERRADO's Sandrinho Sabóia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcelo Passos in the 60th minute of play. Gil Guerra didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when AF CERRADO's Kaká Goiano shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 2-2 in the ordered_time% minute. In the 67th minute of the match, Allan Ortiz tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Sandrinho Sabóia saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Marcelo Passos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Sandrinho Sabóia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Luiz Galvão fell near the penalty area in the 87th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored AF CERRADO's protests and gave Luiz Galvão a yellow card for diving instead. If Renatinho Leal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gil Guerra showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kaká Goiano, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. Despite being the better team, AF CERRADO failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
