The audience thought a goal was coming when Niceto Ihazintu got free with Dalmo Saldanha in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 12 minutes into the game, Caatiba MZC's Niceto Ihazintu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Dalmo Saldanha made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Niceto Ihazintu took the ball and in the 16 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dalmo Saldanha. Dalmo Saldanha dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ruy de Brito in the 23rd minute of play forced Caatiba MZC's goalkeeper Ergo Muro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The corner ended in Gaby Milito almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Jovens Democratas MZC's Dalmo Saldanha did a great save. After 31 played minutes Caatiba MZC got a freekick which was hit by Fahl Figueroa. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcus Paes in the 33rd minute of play forced Caatiba MZC's goalkeeper Ergo Muro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Niceto Ihazintu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 41st minute, Niceto Ihazintu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Niceto Ihazintu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some careless play in the Caatiba MZC defense, Jerome Rohrer kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ergo Muro. The Caatiba MZC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ergo Muro should have stopped the shot.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Niceto Ihazintu made a kick off. Niceto Ihazintu blasted a shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Dalmo Saldanha having to make a save. Dalmo Saldanha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Niceto Ihazintu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ergo Muro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ruy de Brito, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Niceto Ihazintu in the 59th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dalmo Saldanha saved Jovens Democratas MZC from getting behind. 60 minutes into the match, Caatiba MZC's Niceto Ihazintu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dalmo Saldanha narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Caatiba MZC's Niceto Ihazintu in the 62nd minute got a chance for a shot 62nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Jovens Democratas MZC's goalie prevented a goal. Jovens Democratas MZC made a substitution. Laerte Bittencourt replaced Valdir Miranda. Dalmo Saldanha showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Niceto Ihazintu in the 67th minute of the match. If Marcus Paes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jovens Democratas MZC's Vítor Lenzi was substituted for Marcus Paes. Jovens Democratas MZC's Dobromir Zagrodny was substituted for Jerome Rohrer. A sloppy throw-in by Chiquinho das Neves in the 73rd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Caatiba MZC's Rodriguinho Linhares. When Caatiba MZC's Niceto Ihazintu in the 74th minute got a chance for a shot 74th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Ergo Muro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leonardo Guerra, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Niceto Ihazintu in the 85th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dalmo Saldanha prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Dalmo Saldanha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Niceto Ihazintu, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. Vítor Lenzi's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Ergo Muro firmly grabbed it by the left post. Caatiba MZC's Ergo Muro proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 89th minute of the match, managed to save Caatiba MZC from getting a goal against them. Ergo Muro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ruy de Brito, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
