The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 7th minute Viggo Lidström shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zézinho Simões saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 14 minutes into the match, MarquinhosEC's goal looked a bit too open when Viggo Lidström came free, but Zézinho Simões reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Marcelo Lomba had great luck who in the 15thth minute grab hold of the ball when Inácio Freitas from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. Marcelo Lomba didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Curt Montes went, in the 18th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. 23 minutes into the game, MarquinhosEC's Inácio Freitas nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Marcelo Lomba made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. After 26 minutes of play, Esporte Club Bahia's Luiz Gustavo Paes made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Zézinho Simões was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 29 minutes, Inácio Freitas made it 3-1 with a short kick to the right side. Esporte Club Bahia's Marcelo Lomba tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 41st minute Lauro Carneiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zézinho Simões saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marcelo Lomba didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 46th minute, which inside left pole to 4-1. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Marcelo Lomba took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Inácio Freitas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 55 minutes into the match, MarquinhosEC's goal looked a bit too open when Lauro Carneiro came free, but Zézinho Simões reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 56th match minute, MarquinhosEC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pedrinho Siqueira to maneuver through the defense. After 57 played minutes, Esporte Club Bahia's Tiago Xavier shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Zézinho Simões came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Esporte Club Bahia reached it. When Florin Susara came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the MarquinhosEC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Florin Susara couldn't finish the play. Michael Meertens kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. Esteve Quinto hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. After 63 played minutes MarquinhosEC got a freekick which was hit by Esteve Quinto. If Florin Susara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Zézinho Simões took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luiz Gustavo Paes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Through an outstanding action, after 75 minutes, Zézinho Simões successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Florin Susara in the 77th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Marcelo Lomba saved Esporte Club Bahia from getting behind. 81 minutes into the match, Esporte Club Bahia's goal looked a bit too open when Inácio Freitas came free, but Marcelo Lomba reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Gilberto Quadros fell near the penalty area in the 81st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Esporte Club Bahia's protests and gave Gilberto Quadros a yellow card for diving instead. Inácio Freitas blasted a shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Marcelo Lomba having to make a save. Marcelo Lomba showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Inácio Freitas in the 85th minute of the match. MarquinhosEC's Florin Susara got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Esporte Club Bahia's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
