In the 4th minute of the match SuperDepor got a corner. Champions Iasi's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Stelian Pivniceru ran over to the corner to take the kick. After some fancy dribbling in the 6th minute, Corneliu Lupescu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Champions Iasi's supporters rose to their feet, but Corneliu Lupescu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Radu Tarchilă breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Champions Iasi's Martin Cubillos got a free kick in the 7th minute. Ferdinand Joldea showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Călin Bolborici, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. Zachariasz Charamut struck a weak shot in the 10th minute. Radu Tarchilă didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Champions Iasi. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniele De Rossi in the 14th minute of play forced SuperDepor's goalkeeper Radu Tarchilă to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Champions Iasi booed when SuperDepor was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stelian Pivniceru didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 18 played minutes SuperDepor got a freekick which was hit by Leonard Hirean. SuperDepor's Radu Tarchilă played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vasile Mumuleanu in the 21st minute of play. In the 26th minute Călin Bolborici shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ferdinand Joldea saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 28thth minute of the game Stelian Pivniceru who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Champions Iasi's Ferdinand Joldea was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Radu Tarchilă made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. When Romeo Hosu came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the SuperDepor fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Romeo Hosu couldn't finish the play. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched SuperDepor eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
