To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Fabio Abalos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gheorghe Cunea, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Fabio Abalos stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Aurel Pandrea's shot from short distance in the 57th minute. 59 minutes into the match, Steaua Bucuresti's goal looked a bit too open when Panait Oprea came free, but Matei Trişcu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Matei Trişcu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, ionion's Dragoş Zăvoiu got a free kick in the 79th minute. The long shot by Aurel Pandrea in the 80th minute really tested Fabio Abalos's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. When the final whistle went the supporters of Steaua Bucuresti were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant ionion side.
