The throw-in from Abraham Fitzgerald in the 4th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by ionion's Grigore Pădure. In the 8th match minute, Toronto United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gong Bin Ming to maneuver through the defense. 10 minutes into the game, Abraham Fitzgerald threw the ball into play from the sideline. ionion's Grigore Pădure quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Kauã Paranaense showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Niculae Moisescu in the 11th minute of the match. Niculae Moisescu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Kauã Paranaense read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 16th minute of play. Lou Walker recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 18th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Buford Epperson charged in rather forcefully in the 18th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Buford Epperson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. ionion made a substitution. Costică Donose replaced Eugen Albeanu. After 19 played minutes Toronto United got a freekick which was hit by Buford Epperson. Ilie Surugiu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Kauã Paranaense read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 21st minute of play. ionion's Niculae Moisescu was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Kauã Paranaense in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After a defensive mix-up in Toronto United's zone, Răzvan Maghiar stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kauã Paranaense came out of the goal and Răzvan Maghiar tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Kauã Paranaense took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Niculae Moisescu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Toronto United's Kauã Paranaense played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ilie Surugiu in the 29th minute of play. Ilie Surugiu blasted a shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Kauã Paranaense having to make a save. Kauã Paranaense took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ilie Surugiu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rodolfo Eleazar's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Fabio Abalos read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 36th minute of play. Kauã Paranaense made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ilie Surugiu in the 38th minute of play. ionion's Grigore Pădure managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Abraham Fitzgerald in the 39 minute of the game. Kauã Paranaense stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ilie Surugiu's shot from short distance in the 41st minute. 45 minutes into the game, one of Toronto United:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Kauã Paranaense had in the 48thth minute some difficulties stopping Ilie Surugiu's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball.
Niculae Moisescu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Kauã Paranaense tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 54th minute the ball was on its way in behind Toronto United's goalkeeper Kauã Paranaense, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Ilie Surugiu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After some careless play in the Toronto United defense, Ilie Surugiu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Kauã Paranaense. The Toronto United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Kauã Paranaense should have stopped the shot. Grigore Pădure kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. Ilie Surugiu's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Kauã Paranaense firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 65th minute, Ilie Surugiu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The ionion fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. In the 77th minute Rodolfo Eleazar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fabio Abalos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. ionion's Grigore Pădure quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Abraham Fitzgerald, made in the 78th minute of the game. In the 79th minute Ilie Surugiu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kauã Paranaense saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Toronto United's zone, Răzvan Maghiar stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kauã Paranaense came out of the goal and Răzvan Maghiar tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ilie Surugiu struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Kauã Paranaense didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for ionion. Kauã Paranaense made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ilie Surugiu in the 85th minute. Lou Walker fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fabio Abalos having to interfere. 88 minutes into the match, ionion's Ilie Surugiu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kauã Paranaense narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Fabio Abalos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lou Walker, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. 94 minutes into the match, ionion's Ilie Surugiu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kauã Paranaense narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Toronto United's Kauã Paranaense proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 96th minute of the match, managed to save Toronto United from getting a goal against them. ionion played a much better game than Toronto United and deserved their victory. The Toronto United players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
