Ferdinand Vasiliu was slow to take the kick. During this time Steaua Bucuresti's players had a chance to rest. When the match had gone on for 13 minutes, Roberto da Fonseca took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Matei Trişcu to make any attempt to save it. Aurel Pandrea received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Bogdan Stelea tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Juan Fertus charged in rather forcefully in the 20th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Juan Fertus the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 20th match minute, FC DINAMO Bucuresti was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juan Fertus to maneuver through the defense. Aurel Pandrea struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. Bogdan Stelea didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Steaua Bucuresti. 30 minutes into the match, FC DINAMO Bucuresti's goal looked a bit too open when Gheorghe Cunea came free, but Bogdan Stelea reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bogdan Stelea showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felix Iosif, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. After having played for 42 minutes, Roberto da Fonseca managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC DINAMO Bucuresti's supporters crossed their fingers, but Roberto da Fonseca was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Roberto da Fonseca made a kick off. In the 54th minute, Roberto da Fonseca ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Matei Trişcu was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. 57 minutes into the game, Denis Sima threw the ball into play from the sideline. FC DINAMO Bucuresti's Flavius Alupulesei quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Traian Constantinescu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 60th minute of the match, but Bogdan Stelea made a huge save. In the 61st minute, Steaua Bucuresti's Gheorghe Cunea dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-1. With his leg Bogdan Stelea managed to avoid a goal in the 65thth minute, when Steaua Bucuresti's Aurel Pandrea fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Traian Constantinescu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Aurel Pandrea could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 89th minute of the match, but Bogdan Stelea made a huge save. In the 89th match minute, FC DINAMO Bucuresti was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Irinel Cernescu to maneuver through the defense. 92 minutes into the match, FC DINAMO Bucuresti's goal looked a bit too open when Traian Constantinescu came free, but Bogdan Stelea reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Many of Steaua Bucuresti's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Steaua Bucuresti may have spent more time on the ball, but FC DINAMO Bucuresti were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
