Dorin Banu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 16th minute of the match, but Ruben Sánchez made a huge save. In the 22nd minute, Martin Palermo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Magic is Back fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. In the 25th minute Dorin Banu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ruben Sánchez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Calistrat Madgearu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Martin Palermo in the 60th minute of play. Sebastián Battaglia hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. MIT Craiova's David Tunander was substituted for Dorin Banu. Magic is Back's Osvaldo Potente was substituted for Martin Palermo. Magic is Back's Rubén-Darío Feldmann was substituted for Luis Medero. David Tunander fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ruben Sánchez having to interfere. Claudio Marangoni's late challenge caught a MIT Craiova's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Calistrat Madgearu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Osvaldo Potente in the 82nd minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in MIT Craiova's zone, Claudio Marangoni stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Calistrat Madgearu came out of the goal and Claudio Marangoni tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. MIT Craiova's Bogdan Bucataru was substituted for Florin Seremet. Ruben Sánchez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from David Tunander in the 90th minute of play. 95 minutes into the match, Magic is Back's goal looked a bit too open when Tiberiu Caramarin came free, but Ruben Sánchez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 97th minute David Tunander shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ruben Sánchez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
