Juan-Ramón Verón's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Vítor Baia read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 31st minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Juan-Ramón Verón got free with Vítor Baia in the 34th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Guido Vissenaeken in the 36th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mondi Muslera saved KaRaBaĞLaR !! - URAS from getting behind. 40 minutes into the match, KaRaBaĞLaR !! - URAS's goal looked a bit too open when Ümit Karan came free, but Mondi Muslera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Juan-Ramón Verón in the 57th minute of play forced Brugge United's goalkeeper Vítor Baia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Brugge United's Vítor Baia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cezmi Taşkınay in the 76th minute of play. Mondi Muslera made a fantastic save in the 78th minute, when Arnauld Van Impe sent off a good shot on target. Vítor Baia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lütfi Kadrettin in the 81st minute of the match. Mondi Muslera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sandro Gaúcho in the 83rd minute. Brugge United were awarded a corner in the 84th minute after KaRaBaĞLaR !! - URAS's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Waud Huijbrechts took the corner.
