The audience was convinced that Guido Vissenaeken's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Olaf Geiger was relentless in the 34th minute of the game. Dacian Hrean made in the 46th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Guido Vissenaeken however managed to control. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Guido Vissenaeken was the one to do the kick off. 54 minutes into the game, Garson Pfäffli threw the ball into play from the sideline. If Arnauld Van Impe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Arnauld Van Impe received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Olaf Geiger came out and tried to block the shot, but Arnauld Van Impe slotted it home off the left post making it 0-3 in the 86th minute. The Brugge United supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Brugge United would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
