Alfred Laulaja received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Rodriguinho Sousa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, ATHLETICO PRaiano's Vilhelm Skoog got a free kick in the 9th minute. A collision led to Manchester United FC getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Rio Ferdinand hit a great ball. Deilmison van Basten could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 18th minute of the match, but Edwin van der Sar made a huge save. A sloppy throw-in by Akseli Ilola in the 20th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by ATHLETICO PRaiano's Betão Marquez. 21 minutes into the game, Deilmison van Basten recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Edwin van der Sar. Deilmison van Basten showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Taisto Pentsinen scored 1-1 in the 25th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rodriguinho Sousa, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. ATHLETICO PRaiano's Rodriguinho Sousa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Taisto Pentsinen in the 32nd minute of play. After some careless play in the ATHLETICO PRaiano defense, Valdemar Kuoppala kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rodriguinho Sousa. The ATHLETICO PRaiano fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rodriguinho Sousa should have stopped the shot. In the 38th minute, Deilmison van Basten ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Edwin van der Sar was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. Deilmison van Basten recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 41st minute Deilmison van Basten shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edwin van der Sar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to ATHLETICO PRaiano getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Betão Marquez hit a great ball. In the 49thth minute of the game Davide Beckham who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but ATHLETICO PRaiano's Rodriguinho Sousa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Deilmison van Basten made a kick off. In the 52nd minute Deilmison van Basten shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edwin van der Sar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Davide Beckham in the 53rd minute of play forced ATHLETICO PRaiano's goalkeeper Rodriguinho Sousa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Robin van Persie sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Taisto Pentsinen in the 56th minute of play forced ATHLETICO PRaiano's goalkeeper Rodriguinho Sousa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Manchester United FC's Taisto Pentsinen in the 64th minute got a chance for a shot 64th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye ATHLETICO PRaiano's goalie prevented a goal. Rodriguinho Sousa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Taisto Pentsinen in the 68th minute of play. ATHLETICO PRaiano's Denílson Magalhães was substituted for Unax Mudarra. 77 minutes into the match, ATHLETICO PRaiano's goalkeeper Rodriguinho Sousa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Eero Uusipaavalniemi. 79 minutes into the match, ATHLETICO PRaiano's goal looked a bit too open when Taisto Pentsinen came free, but Rodriguinho Sousa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
