After 9 minutes of play, União Sport Clube Paredes's Dabi Saens made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jonatan Eguzki was left in no man's land by his defense there! The audience thought a goal was coming when Jerónimo Furtado got free with Jonatan Eguzki in the 15th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Máximo Kirchner in the 20th minute of play forced União Sport Clube Paredes's goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Edwin van der Sar came out of the goal in the 22nd minute to try and stop a shot by Unidad de Matanza's Michal Stehno. But to his dismay, Michal Stehno quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. If Michal Stehno had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Michal Stehno's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Edwin van der Sar was relentless in the 26th minute of the game. In the 27th minute Unidad de Matanza were awarded a corner. Martin Grøtterud went to the cornerflag to take it. Unidad de Matanza's Martin Grøtterud was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Edwin van der Sar in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Edwin van der Sar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Michal Stehno in the 29th minute of play. In the 30th minute Dabi Saens shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonatan Eguzki saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Michal Stehno made a kick off. In the 56th minute the ball was on its way in behind União Sport Clube Paredes's goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 57 minutes into the match, União Sport Clube Paredes's goal looked a bit too open when Michal Stehno came free, but Edwin van der Sar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of União Sport Clube Paredes booed when Unidad de Matanza was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position.
