Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Otto Fenomeno made the kick off which started today's match. In the 6thth minute of the game Suat Kaya who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Bredene's Peter Bautmans was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The Genk fans' excitement grew in the 6th match minute when Genk's Suat Kaya looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Suat Kaya fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Peter Bautmans having to interfere. Rain De Hond received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Peter Bautmans tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Karl Slegers made in the 16th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Mai Si Liang immediately put the ball in play. 19 minutes into the match, Genk's Suat Kaya sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Peter Bautmans narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 26 minutes into the match, Genk's goal looked a bit too open when Otto Fenomeno came free, but Jannes Van Leempoel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Genk's Suat Kaya in the 29th minute got a chance for a shot 29th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye FC Bredene's goalie prevented a goal. The excitement rose when Genk's Suat Kaya after 38 played minutes turned away three defenders near the goal, and after that shot a ball that was too difficult for FC Bredene's goalkeeper to hold. Score! 0-2. Karl Slegers made in the 42nd minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Mai Si Liang. After a defensive mix-up in FC Bredene's zone, Suat Kaya stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Peter Bautmans came out of the goal and Suat Kaya tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Peter Bautmans made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rain De Hond in the 46th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

If Suat Kaya had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 55th minute of the match Genk got a corner. FC Bredene's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Loui Wouqier ran over to the corner to take the kick. Vergil Rupov who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 76thth minute tested the skills of Peter Bautmans when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Vergil Rupov sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rain De Hond in the 81st minute of play forced FC Bredene's goalkeeper Peter Bautmans to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Vergil Rupov struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. Peter Bautmans didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Genk. Vergil Rupov could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 90th minute of the match, but Peter Bautmans made a huge save. Vergil Rupov received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Peter Bautmans tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Genk played a much better game than FC Bredene and deserved their victory. The FC Bredene players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
