VERΛ's defense didn't have a chance, in the 3rd minute, when Martin Grønningsæter scored to the left of an out of position Delmar Bartoleme, making the score, 1-0. Jonathan Nesse lost his temper 7 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 8th minute there was a penalty for VERΛ. Eleuterio Ferdinand stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Tore-Andre Røkenes. 1-1. When Martin Grønningsæter fell near the penalty area in the 10th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored AEK FC's protests and gave Martin Grønningsæter a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to AEK FC getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Martin Grønningsæter hit a great ball. In the 11th minute of the match Eleuterio Ferdinand sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Tore-Andre Røkenes skillfully saved the ball. Danilo Garikoitz ran back to his position shaking his head. When the match had gone on for 16 minutes, Luisito Caradaro put it in 1-2 from a short distance just to the right of Tore-Andre Røkenes. When Tiburcio Salvatore fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored VERΛ's protests and gave Tiburcio Salvatore a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, VERΛ's Tiburcio Salvatore got a free kick in the 18th minute. AEK FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luisito Caradaro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. When Kyrre Holmefjord came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the AEK FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kyrre Holmefjord couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Danilo Garikoitz in the 28th minute of play forced AEK FC's goalkeeper Tore-Andre Røkenes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee ignored VERΛ's protests and gave Eleuterio Ferdinand a yellow card for diving instead. 35 minutes into the game, Lorenzo Louis was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. VERΛ's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave AEK FC the free kick. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Delmar Bartoleme made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ole Lorentzen in the 58th minute of play. After a rather tough play, VERΛ's Delmiro Batista got a free kick in the 59th minute. When Atle Romundstad came up free with the goalie in the 65th minute, the AEK FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Atle Romundstad couldn't finish the play. 67 minutes into the match, VERΛ's goal looked a bit too open when Ole Lorentzen came free, but Delmar Bartoleme reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. AEK FC's Tore-Andre Røkenes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luisito Caradaro in the 69th minute of play. Ole Lorentzen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tiburcio Salvatore got his second yellow card in the match during the 73rd minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. After 74 played minutes VERΛ got a freekick which was hit by Tiburcio Salvatore. Delmar Bartoleme showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ole Lorentzen in the 78th minute of the match. When Lorenzo Louis came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the VERΛ fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lorenzo Louis couldn't finish the play. Delmar Bartoleme didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Kyrre Holmefjord went, in the 88th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-3 was the resulting score. After a rather tough play, AEK FC's Fabian Skogvold got a free kick in the 92nd minute. AEK FC's Ole Lorentzen got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The VERΛ supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing VERΛ would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
