When Harry Backlund fell near the penalty area in the 96th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Club Olimpia's protests and gave Harry Backlund a yellow card for diving instead. Harry Backlund hit a great freekick 97 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 97th minute, Claudinei Damião managed to get in a good position for a shot. Stars's supporters rose to their feet, but Claudinei Damião was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alfredo Aguilar breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Club Olimpia had won after a very even match.
