The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Club Olimpia's Alfredo Aguilar proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 12th minute of the match, managed to save Club Olimpia from getting a goal against them. Wen Ke Yan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 14th minute of the match, but Alfredo Aguilar made a huge save. Muhammad Chan didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Nelson Haedo went, in the 16th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. When Roque Gora came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Club Olimpia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Roque Gora couldn't finish the play. If Lucio Urki had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Roque Gora came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Club Olimpia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Roque Gora couldn't finish the play. 27 minutes into the match, Club Olimpia's goal looked a bit too open when Jonathan Siong came free, but Alfredo Aguilar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jonathan Siong fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alfredo Aguilar having to interfere. Jonathan Siongs short, quick shot in the 35thth minute got Alfredo Aguilar to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After some careless play in the Stars defense, Nelson Haedo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Muhammad Chan. The Stars fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Muhammad Chan should have stopped the shot. Muhammad Chan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nelson Haedo, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. The corner led to Stars's Adam Seng getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Claudinei Damião was slow to take the kick. During this time Stars's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Bernt Willig almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Club Olimpia's Alfredo Aguilar did a great save. In the 89th minute Stars were awarded a corner. Claudinei Damião went to the cornerflag to take it. A collision led to Club Olimpia getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Roque Gora hit a great ball. Faustino Ortle made in the 95th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Stars's Claudinei Damião. Alfredo Aguilar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wen Ke Yan, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. In the 97th minute Edmund Lidberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Muhammad Chan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Club Olimpia eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
