In the 4th minute Rodrigo-Sebastian Palacio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bambang Sagala saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 5 played minutes Rafaela FC got a freekick which was hit by Basilio Guillerme. Bambang Sagala showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rodrigo-Sebastian Palacio in the 7th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rodrigo-Sebastian Palacio in the 10th minute of play forced Estudiantes de Merida FC's goalkeeper Bambang Sagala to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 14th minute Rodrigo-Sebastian Palacio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bambang Sagala saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 28th minute Rolando Jax shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bambang Sagala saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With his leg Inocencio Veronica managed to avoid a goal in the 29thth minute, when Estudiantes de Merida FC's Emiliano Lesardo fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. A collision led to Rafaela FC getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Karel-Jan Kerckmans hit a great ball. After 34 played minutes Estudiantes de Merida FC got a freekick which was hit by Garci Vaz. 35 minutes into the match, Estudiantes de Merida FC's goal looked a bit too open when Rodrigo-Sebastian Palacio came free, but Bambang Sagala reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Estudiantes de Merida FC's Bambang Sagala played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rodrigo-Sebastian Palacio in the 37th minute of play. Bambang Sagala took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rolando Jax, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 44th minute Rodrigo-Sebastian Palacio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bambang Sagala saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Emiliano Lesardo might have been able to make a better finish in the 46th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Inocencio Veronica. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Emiliano Lesardo ran back to his position shaking his head. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Rodrigo-Sebastian Palacio made the kick off in the second half. Octavio Gonzo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 52nd minute of the match, but Bambang Sagala made a huge save. After a rather tough play, Rafaela FC's Rolando Jax got a free kick in the 52nd minute. 54 minutes into the game, Ove Lekberg was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Estudiantes de Merida FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Rafaela FC the free kick. After 54 played minutes Estudiantes de Merida FC got a freekick which was hit by Ove Lekberg. Bambang Sagala made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rodrigo-Sebastian Palacio in the 55th minute of play. Octavio Gonzo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 57th minute of the match, but Bambang Sagala made a huge save. After 59 played minutes Estudiantes de Merida FC got a freekick which was hit by Garci Vaz. Estudiantes de Merida FC's Bambang Sagala proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save Estudiantes de Merida FC from getting a goal against them. If Octavio Gonzo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rafaela FC made a substitution. Humberto Bihar replaced Leonides Tajo. In the 67th match minute, Rafaela FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Basilio Guillerme to maneuver through the defense. 69 minutes into the game, Rodrigo-Sebastian Palacio recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Bambang Sagala. Rodrigo-Sebastian Palacio showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-1. After 73 played minutes Rafaela FC got a freekick which was hit by Nico Veit. Nico Veit kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. In the 80th minute Claudinei Canido shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Inocencio Veronica saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Inocencio Veronica made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claudinei Canido in the 85th minute of play. A nice corner shot did that Bladimir Morales got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Inocencio Veronica quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Bambang Sagala made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rodrigo-Sebastian Palacio in the 90th minute. After some careless play in the Estudiantes de Merida FC defense, Rodrigo-Sebastian Palacio kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Bambang Sagala. The Estudiantes de Merida FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Bambang Sagala should have stopped the shot. In the 96th match minute, Estudiantes de Merida FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Maicon Brodel to maneuver through the defense. Rafaela FC played a much better game than Estudiantes de Merida FC and deserved their victory. The Estudiantes de Merida FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
