Jenipapo SC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. In the 10th match minute, Poetass FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sandrinho Carvalho to maneuver through the defense. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Giovanni Motta in the 13th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Percival Souto saved Poetass FC from getting behind. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Giovanni Motta in the 13th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Percival Souto prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Percival Souto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Giovanni Motta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match clock showed 16 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Giovanni Motta sped through Poetass FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Percival Souto. Cássio Barbosa hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. Victor Vidal hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. In the 30th minute the ball was on its way in behind Poetass FC's goalkeeper Percival Souto, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 32 minutes, Narciso Freire mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Poetass FC and the Jenipapo SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Narciso Freire kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. Percival Souto stood somewhat misplaced when Giovanni Motta came free in front of goal and shot 3-0 to the left of him in the 34 minute. After a defensive mix-up in Poetass FC's zone, Giovanni Motta stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Percival Souto came out of the goal and Giovanni Motta tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 41st minute Jenipapo SC were awarded a corner. Roberto Cafuringa went to the cornerflag to take it. With a little luck, Poetass FC's Percival Souto got control of the ball when Giovanni Motta tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Poetass FC booed when Jenipapo SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. José Pedro Coutinho didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Giovanni Motta to make the kick off. In the 54th minute, Eriberto dos Santos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Moisés das Neves in the 58th minute of play forced Poetass FC's goalkeeper Percival Souto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 63rd minute, Poetass FC's Osvaldo Branco dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-1. José Pedro Coutinho charged in rather forcefully in the 66th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed José Pedro Coutinho the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 80th minute Osvaldo Branco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dida Taffarel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Percival Souto showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Giovanni Motta might have been able to make a better finish in the 94th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Percival Souto. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Giovanni Motta ran back to his position shaking his head. Percival Souto stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Giovanni Motta's shot from short distance in the 96th minute. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Jenipapo SC had played much better football throughout.
