Blumenau Esporte Clube were awarded a corner in the 16th minute after SC Braga's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Nildo Dantas took the corner. The corner ended in Nildo Dantas almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but SC Braga's Antonio Adán did a great save. A collision led to Blumenau Esporte Clube getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Xandinho Sharkin hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Zigmantas Gimbutas got free with Luiz Fábio Leite in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 19 minutes into the match, Zigmantas Gimbutas dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Luiz Fábio Leite, 1-0. Zigmantas Gimbutas blasted a shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Luiz Fábio Leite having to make a save. Luiz Fábio Leite showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zigmantas Gimbutas, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Zigmantas Gimbutas managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Braga's supporters rose to their feet, but Zigmantas Gimbutas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luiz Fábio Leite breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Antonio Adán made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bin Shevchenko in the 29th minute of play. Zigmantas Gimbutas scored 2-0 in the 30th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Luiz Fábio Leite, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Blumenau Esporte Clube's Cássio Tepedino was substituted for Enrico Orsi. Antonio Adán made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cássio Tepedino in the 35th minute of play. After 41 minutes of play, SC Braga's Zigmantas Gimbutas made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Luiz Fábio Leite was left in no man's land by his defense there! Cássio Tepedino scored 3-1 in the 45th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Antonio Adán, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. SC Braga's Antonio Adán played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edvaldo de Toledo in the 47th minute of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Zigmantas Gimbutas to strike the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the match, SC Braga's Zigmantas Gimbutas sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Luiz Fábio Leite narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 78th minute Stig-Åke Mattsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luiz Fábio Leite saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 80th minute, Stig-Åke Mattsson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Luiz Fábio Leite was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-1. After a rather tough play, SC Braga's Stig-Åke Mattsson got a free kick in the 83rd minute. 86 minutes into the match, Cássio Tepedino notched a goal, 4-2, to the right of SC Braga's Antonio Adán. Antonio Adán was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 89th match minute, Blumenau Esporte Clube was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Xandinho Sharkin to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Blumenau Esporte Clube getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Bin Shevchenko hit a great ball. The supporters of SC Braga booed when Blumenau Esporte Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Xandinho Sharkin didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. SC Braga had won after a very even match.
