Cactos's Cengizhan Baycan got a good chance for a goal in the 2nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cengizhan Baycan in the 4th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Antonio Adán saved SC Braga from getting behind. Cactos's Cengizhan Baycan was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 4th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Antonio Adán made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dorival de Carvalho in the 8th minute. After a rather tough play, SC Braga's Alberto Malheiro got a free kick in the 11th minute. The audience was convinced that Cengizhan Baycan's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Antonio Adán was relentless in the 12th minute of the game. Bran Allison was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Bran Allison made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zigmantas Gimbutas in the 38th minute of play. After a rather tough play, SC Braga's Jon-Egil Sætre got a free kick in the 40th minute. In the 40th minute, Dorival de Carvalho sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and SC Braga's Antonio Adán didn't even have to move. Zigmantas Gimbutas blasted a shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Bran Allison having to make a save. 42 minutes into the match, Cactos's goal looked a bit too open when Zigmantas Gimbutas came free, but Bran Allison reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. SC Braga's Antonio Adán played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dorival de Carvalho in the 47th minute of play. In the 48th minute of the match Cactos got a corner. SC Braga's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Dorival de Carvalho ran over to the corner to take the kick.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cengizhan Baycan was the one to do the kick off. Cactos made a substitution. Luisinho Maciel replaced Cengizhan Baycan. Gastão Veiga kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. After 61 minutes, Alberto Malheiro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SC Braga and the Cactos players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 63rd minute Luisinho Maciel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Antonio Adán saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luisinho Maciel's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Antonio Adán read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 97th minute of play. Cactos's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
