The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Michel van der Bij stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Célio Fontes's shot from short distance in the 3rd minute. Joel Aparecido sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Célio Fontes in the 9th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Michel van der Bij saved Talento Futebol clube from getting behind. Juvenal Sergipano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Raúl Ceresso in the 14th minute of play. Juvenal Sergipano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel Aparecido, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 21 played minutes Talento Futebol clube got a freekick which was hit by Carlinhos Velasco. Michel van der Bij showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lobo Zornoza in the 25th minute of the match. Talento Futebol clube's Michel van der Bij played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lobo Zornoza in the 27th minute of play. If Célio Fontes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to CUITEENSE FUTEBOL CLUBE getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Lobo Zornoza hit a great ball. Talento Futebol clube's Michel van der Bij played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lobo Zornoza in the 38th minute of play. Michel van der Bij showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lobo Zornoza, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. After a defensive mix-up in Talento Futebol clube's zone, Amado Froila stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Michel van der Bij came out of the goal and Amado Froila tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Júnior Zago kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. Juvenal Sergipano made an important save on a dangerous shot by Raúl Ceresso in the 46th minute. Amado Froila sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Raúl Ceresso made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Amado Froila in the 54th minute of play forced Talento Futebol clube's goalkeeper Michel van der Bij to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 55th minute CUITEENSE FUTEBOL CLUBE were awarded a corner. Célio Fontes went to the cornerflag to take it. After a defensive mix-up in CUITEENSE FUTEBOL CLUBE's zone, Raúl Ceresso stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Juvenal Sergipano came out of the goal and Raúl Ceresso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 62 played minutes Talento Futebol clube got a freekick which was hit by Fraco Zago. After a rather tough play, Talento Futebol clube's Júnior Zago got a free kick in the 63rd minute. In the 64th minute Lobo Zornoza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Michel van der Bij saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Geovânio Galvão during the 73rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Joel Aparecido fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juvenal Sergipano having to interfere. Michel van der Bij came out of the goal and Clemente Zanussi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of CUITEENSE FUTEBOL CLUBE booed when Talento Futebol clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Francois Custermans didn't get a good kick on the ball. CUITEENSE FUTEBOL CLUBE's Juvenal Sergipano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Raúl Ceresso in the 88th minute of play. Célio Fontes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 92nd minute of the match, but Michel van der Bij made a huge save. Brian Johnson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Michel van der Bij tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
