When Peru Diaz came up free with the goalie in the 10th minute, the AFC United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Peru Diaz couldn't finish the play. After 15 minutes, Andries De Putter made it 2-0 with a short kick to the right side. CON-E-CO's Demesio Galarreta tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. When Pedrinho Guimarães fell near the penalty area in the 22nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored CON-E-CO's protests and gave Pedrinho Guimarães a yellow card for diving instead. Antônio Carlos Hoffmann made in the 33rd minute of the game a quick throw-in and Argider Lizundia immediately put the ball in play. Demesio Galarreta made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Andries De Putter in the 34th minute of play. After 35 minutes CON-E-CO's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Jordi Scherz who took care of the corner kick. CON-E-CO's supporters crossed their fingers, but Artaldo Longoria was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
