Aníbal Moura was slow to take the kick. During this time GRÊMIO's players had a chance to rest. GRÊMIO's Aníbal Moura was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Şerif Çetinay in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 16 minutes into the match, GRÊMIO's goal looked a bit too open when Silviu Miclea came free, but Sergio Goicoechea reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Maurinho Valle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Noia getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Evaristo Vinhas hit a great ball. The supporters of Noia booed when GRÊMIO was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aníbal Moura didn't get a good kick on the ball. GRÊMIO's Sergio Goicoechea played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ernani Velloso in the 39th minute of play. GRÊMIO were awarded a corner in the 71th minute after Noia's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Aníbal Moura took the corner. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Silviu Miclea in the 73rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sergio Goicoechea saved GRÊMIO from getting behind. In the 78th minute Luiz Gustavo Mazza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Şerif Çetinay saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Şerif Çetinay made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luiz Gustavo Mazza in the 78th minute of play. Abel Pirani fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Şerif Çetinay having to interfere. If Fellipe Queiroz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
