With his leg Zézinho Simões managed to avoid a goal in the 5thth minute, when GRÊMIO's 史挺南 fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After a defensive mix-up in GRÊMIO's zone, Florin Susara stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sergio Goicoechea came out of the goal and Florin Susara tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Abel Pirani hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. Zézinho Simões showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from 史挺南 in the 13th minute of the match. Sergio Goicoechea made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Inácio Freitas in the 16th minute of play. Geovani Teles hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. Florin Susara fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sergio Goicoechea having to interfere. In the 25thth minute of the game Florin Susara who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but GRÊMIO's Sergio Goicoechea was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 26 minutes into the match, MarquinhosEC's goalkeeper Zézinho Simões had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by 史挺南. GRÊMIO's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Aníbal Moura in the 27th minute. GRÊMIO's Silvério Pinheiro was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Zézinho Simões in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 30 minutes had been played when some careless play by MarquinhosEC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Aníbal Moura was slow to take the kick. During this time GRÊMIO's players had a chance to rest. 33 minutes into the game, Inácio Freitas cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Sergio Goicoechea was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 36 minutes into the match, MarquinhosEC's goalkeeper Zézinho Simões had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Luiz Gustavo Mazza. Sergio Goicoechea showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Barrie Deacon in the 37th minute of the match. In the 44th minute, Inácio Freitas made a precise shot to the right of Sergio Goicoechea. GRÊMIO's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Curt Montes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sergio Goicoechea having to interfere. The GRÊMIO players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. MarquinhosEC were winning 0-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell 史挺南 to make the kick off. Michael Meertens could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 55th minute of the match, but Sergio Goicoechea made a huge save. After 56 minutes, Kauã Leo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the GRÊMIO and the MarquinhosEC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Kauã Leo hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. Sergio Goicoechea took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Inácio Freitas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, GRÊMIO's Sergio Goicoechea got control of the ball when Florin Susara tried to sneak it across the goal line. 64 minutes into the match, MarquinhosEC's goal looked a bit too open when Abel Pirani came free, but Zézinho Simões reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lázaro Mincho hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. In the 77th minute, Inácio Freitas left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The MarquinhosEC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-4. GRÊMIO's Sergio Goicoechea proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 85th minute of the match, managed to save GRÊMIO from getting a goal against them. MarquinhosEC's Zézinho Simões played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Silvério Pinheiro in the 86th minute of play. After 89 played minutes MarquinhosEC got a freekick which was hit by Mário Fernandes. After having played for 90 minutes, Aníbal Moura managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. GRÊMIO's supporters crossed their fingers, but Aníbal Moura was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Florin Susara received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Sergio Goicoechea tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the final whistle sounded MarquinhosEC left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than GRÊMIO.
