The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Walmir Pombal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Walmir Pombal could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 10th minute of the match, but Tiaguinho Correia made a huge save. The throw-in from Ernesto de Amaral in the 12th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Trindade Atlético Club's Fulgencio Rius. Fulgencio Rius blasted a shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Paulo Gaizkine having to make a save. Paulo Gaizkine showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dagoberto Dracena in the 18th minute of the match. In the 22nd minute of the match Trindade Atlético Club got a corner. Catugi FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Korhan Kutalmış ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Trindade Atlético Club's Korhan Kutalmış to fire away a dangerous shot which Paulo Gaizkine despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. With an all-out effort, Catugi FC's Tiaguinho Correia threw himself towards the right post 26 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Carlos Alberto Soares, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 32 minutes into the game, Trindade Atlético Club's Dagoberto Dracena nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Paulo Gaizkine made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Ruperto Emenon received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Paulo Gaizkine tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, Trindade Atlético Club's Tiaguinho Correia got control of the ball when Walmir Pombal tried to sneak it across the goal line. Paulo Gaizkine showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dagoberto Dracena, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Carlos Alberto Soares made a kick off. Walmir Pombal kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. Trindade Atlético Club's Fulgencio Rius got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Miguel Pimenta hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. If Dagoberto Dracena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Paulo Gaizkine showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dagoberto Dracena, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dagoberto Dracena got free with Paulo Gaizkine in the 65th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 67th match minute, Trindade Atlético Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dragoş Vâtcu to maneuver through the defense. Trindade Atlético Club's Róbson Couto was substituted for Dagoberto Dracena. Trindade Atlético Club made a substitution. Catugi FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Róbson Couto was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Tiaguinho Correia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Walmir Pombal in the 95th minute of play. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Trindade Atlético Club walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
