If Zigmantas Gimbutas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 10th minute Zigmantas Gimbutas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ismael Nazario Serre saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 12 played minutes SC Braga got a freekick which was hit by Zigmantas Gimbutas. Ismael Nazario Serre came out of the goal in the 14th minute to try and stop a shot by SC Braga's Zigmantas Gimbutas. But to his dismay, Zigmantas Gimbutas quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Papunhas EC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Marcel Pinho in the 18th minute. Zigmantas Gimbutas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 26th minute, Zigmantas Gimbutas ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ismael Nazario Serre was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Zigmantas Gimbutas might have been able to make a better finish in the 29th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ismael Nazario Serre. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Zigmantas Gimbutas ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 29th minute Zigmantas Gimbutas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ismael Nazario Serre saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 31st minute the ball was on its way in behind Papunhas EC's goalkeeper Ismael Nazario Serre, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The goalkeeper smacked the ball away after a great corner, but Valdomiro Lira advanced and headed the ball into goal, 0-3 in the 32nd minute. Quintino Carvalhais charged in rather forcefully in the 35th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Quintino Carvalhais the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 35th minute, Quintino Carvalhais hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 40 minutes into the match, Christian Baiano had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Antonio Adán. SC Braga's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Christian Baiano was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. In the 44th minute the ball was on its way in behind Papunhas EC's goalkeeper Ismael Nazario Serre, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 45 minutes had been played when some careless play by Papunhas EC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Zigmantas Gimbutas was slow to take the kick. During this time SC Braga's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Zigmantas Gimbutas almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Papunhas EC's Ismael Nazario Serre did a great save. When Valdomiro Lira, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 45 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Ismael Nazario Serre was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-3 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Valdemar de Moraes to strike the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the game, Papunhas EC's Agostinho de Carvalho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Antonio Adán made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-3. SC Braga's Antonio Adán played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Valdemar de Moraes in the 53rd minute of play. Antonio Adán took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Christian Baiano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. SC Braga's Geraldo Lucas was substituted for André Jordão. SC Braga's Stig-Åke Mattsson was substituted for Zigmantas Gimbutas. SC Braga's Charl De Metser was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Ismael Nazario Serre in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 68th match minute, Papunhas EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vítor Sampaio to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Stig-Åke Mattsson in the 70th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ismael Nazario Serre prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 72 minutes into the match, Valdemar de Moraes notched a goal, 3-4, to the right of SC Braga's Antonio Adán. Antonio Adán was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. SC Braga's attentive Lu Xun Lei managed to snatch the ball when Oswaldo Prado made a throw-in in the 75th minute of the game. Stig-Åke Mattsson came free with the goalkeeper in the 85th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Ismael Nazario Serre could save by the left post. If Stig-Åke Mattsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 92 minutes into the game, Stig-Åke Mattsson cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-6. Ismael Nazario Serre was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. SC Braga walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
