The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Tiaguinho Correia showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 17 minutes into the match, SC Braga's goalkeeper Antonio Adán had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Vintilă Ungur. The audience was convinced that Zigmantas Gimbutas's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Tiaguinho Correia was relentless in the 24th minute of the game. Quintino Carvalhais ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 95th minute Maurinho Dias shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Antonio Adán saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Trindade Atlético Club had won after a very even match.
