Dinei Pinheiro stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Alfredo Martins's shot from short distance in the 7th minute. After 9 minutes SeleSantos FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Pedro Luís da Rocha who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Pedro Luís da Rocha got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Dinei Pinheiro quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. After 12 played minutes Marquês de Herval got a freekick which was hit by Selami Rezan. Pedrão Godoi's late challenge caught a Marquês de Herval's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Pedrão Godoi helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, SeleSantos FC's Pedrão Godoi got a free kick in the 16th minute. 17 minutes into the match, SeleSantos FC's goal looked a bit too open when Alfredo Martins came free, but Dinei Pinheiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dida Taffarel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leif Törnqvist in the 19th minute of play. Dinei Pinheiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alfredo Martins, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 25 minutes into the game, Alfredo Martins cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Dinei Pinheiro was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Niilo Mikkola hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. 28 minutes into the match, Alfredo Martins notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of SeleSantos FC's Dinei Pinheiro. Dinei Pinheiro was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Dinei Pinheiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nestor Paraibano in the 31st minute of play. In the 33rd minute of the match Pedro Luís da Rocha sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Dinei Pinheiro skillfully saved the ball. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alfredo Martins couldn't finish the play. After having played for 46 minutes, Nestor Paraibano managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Marquês de Herval's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nestor Paraibano was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Alfredo Martins stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nestor Paraibano got free with Dinei Pinheiro in the 52nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Alfredo Martins in the 55th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dinei Pinheiro prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A collision led to Marquês de Herval getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Nestor Paraibano hit a great ball. Jacobo Casado might have been able to make a better finish in the 60th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dida Taffarel. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jacobo Casado ran back to his position shaking his head. 64 minutes into the match, SeleSantos FC's goalkeeper Dinei Pinheiro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nestor Paraibano. After having played for 69 minutes, Jacobo Casado managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SeleSantos FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jacobo Casado was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Dinei Pinheiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alfredo Martins in the 75th minute of the match. SeleSantos FC's Dinei Pinheiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alfredo Martins in the 76th minute of play. Dida Taffarel stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Niilo Mikkola's shot from short distance in the 79th minute. 85 minutes into the match, SeleSantos FC's goalkeeper Dinei Pinheiro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nestor Paraibano. Nestor Paraibano came free with the goalkeeper in the 92nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Dinei Pinheiro could save by the left post. Dinei Pinheiro made a fantastic save in the 93rd minute, when Alfredo Martins sent off a good shot on target.
