Amadeu Lamego took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aníbal Alagoano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Amadeu Lamego made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aníbal Alagoano in the 12th minute of play. SAO JOANENSE FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 15th minute, when Aníbal Alagoano scored to the left of an out of position Amadeu Lamego, making the score, 1-0. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Aníbal Alagoano in the 19th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Amadeu Lamego saved SAO JOANENSE FC from getting behind. In the 25th minute Luisinho Netto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but David Seaman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jenipapo SC's David Seaman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alessandro Meirelles in the 27th minute of play. David Seaman took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from André Motta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 33rd minute the ball was on its way in behind SAO JOANENSE FC's goalkeeper Amadeu Lamego, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After having played for 34 minutes, Aníbal Alagoano managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Jenipapo SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Aníbal Alagoano was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Aníbal Alagoano might have been able to make a better finish in the 38th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Amadeu Lamego. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Aníbal Alagoano ran back to his position shaking his head. Aníbal Alagoano's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Amadeu Lamego read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 38th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Aníbal Alagoano managed to get in a good position for a shot. Jenipapo SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Aníbal Alagoano was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Amadeu Lamego breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 41st minute, Aníbal Alagoano ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Amadeu Lamego was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. In the 44th match minute, SAO JOANENSE FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Beto Galvão to maneuver through the defense. Ricardinho Pena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Aníbal Alagoano to strike the kick off in the second half. The audience cheered when Ricardinho Pena's long shot passed Amadeu Lamego's right side. It was 3-0, 54 minutes into the match. 61 minutes into the match, SAO JOANENSE FC's goal looked a bit too open when Aníbal Alagoano came free, but Amadeu Lamego reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 66th minute Alessandro Meirelles shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but David Seaman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After taking down the ball on Jenipapo SC's corner Ricardinho Pena fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Amadeu Lamego quite easily take care of the ball. Jenipapo SC were awarded a corner in the 76th minute after SAO JOANENSE FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Ricardinho Pena took the corner. David Seaman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alessandro Meirelles in the 77th minute of play. In the 78th minute Aníbal Alagoano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Amadeu Lamego saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alessandro Meirelles in the 81st minute of play forced Jenipapo SC's goalkeeper David Seaman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Jenipapo SC's David Seaman got control of the ball when Luisinho Netto tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ricardinho Pena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 89thth minute of the game Aníbal Alagoano who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SAO JOANENSE FC's Amadeu Lamego was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Amadeu Lamego stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Aníbal Alagoano's shot from short distance in the 89th minute. 93 minutes into the match, SAO JOANENSE FC's goal looked a bit too open when Aníbal Alagoano came free, but Amadeu Lamego reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
