But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jairo de Azevedo couldn't finish the play. 5 minutes into the game, Afonso Ferraz was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Academia Santista CIMZ's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Villaverde Celeste Clube the free kick. The supporters of Villaverde Celeste Clube booed when Academia Santista CIMZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carlos Taffarel was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Roy Makaay showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 6 minute of play. In the 9th minute Jairo de Azevedo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Taffarel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Villaverde Celeste Clube booed when Academia Santista CIMZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tiaguinho Mendes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jairo de Azevedo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Taffarel having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Academia Santista CIMZ's zone, William Lucas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Carlos Taffarel came out of the goal and William Lucas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Villaverde Celeste Clube's Luís Paulo Carneiro got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jairo de Azevedo received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Carlos Taffarel came out and tried to block the shot, but Jairo de Azevedo slotted it home off the left post making it 3-0 in the 20th minute. A collision led to Academia Santista CIMZ getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Túlio Prado hit a great ball. In the 27th minute Guo Ao shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Taffarel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Roy Makaay scored 4-0 in the 29th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Carlos Taffarel, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Kauan Leme's late challenge caught a Villaverde Celeste Clube's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Kauan Leme helped the player get up and apologised. In the 35th match minute, Academia Santista CIMZ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kauan Leme to maneuver through the defense. In the 36th minute, Villaverde Celeste Clube's Roy Makaay dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 5-0. Roy Makaay could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 39th minute of the match, but Carlos Taffarel made a huge save. Carlos Taffarel was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Roy Makaay showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 6-0 in the 41 minute of play. Carlos Taffarel came out of the goal in the 45th minute to try and stop a shot by Villaverde Celeste Clube's Jairo de Azevedo. But to his dismay, Jairo de Azevedo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 7-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Roy Makaay to strike the kick off in the second half. Carlos Taffarel came out of the goal in the 51st minute to try and stop a shot by Villaverde Celeste Clube's Guo Ao. But to his dismay, Guo Ao quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 8-0. The audience was convinced that Roy Makaay's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Carlos Taffarel was relentless in the 60th minute of the game. 61 minutes into the match, Academia Santista CIMZ's goal looked a bit too open when Jairo de Azevedo came free, but Carlos Taffarel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Villaverde Celeste Clube's Roy Makaay got a good chance for a goal in the 62nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 66 minutes of play, Villaverde Celeste Clube's Jairo de Azevedo made it 9-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Carlos Taffarel was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 73rd minute Roy Makaay shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Taffarel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. André Luiz Alvarenga didn't get a good kick on the ball. 75 minutes into the match, Jairo de Azevedo notched a goal, 10-0, to the right of Academia Santista CIMZ's Carlos Taffarel. Carlos Taffarel was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Carlos Taffarel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Guo Ao in the 79th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Academia Santista CIMZ defense, Roy Makaay kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Carlos Taffarel. The Academia Santista CIMZ fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Carlos Taffarel should have stopped the shot. Carlos Taffarel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jairo de Azevedo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 86 minutes into the match, Jairo de Azevedo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Carlos Taffarel. Academia Santista CIMZ's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jairo de Azevedo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 12-0. After some careless play in the Academia Santista CIMZ defense, Roy Makaay kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Carlos Taffarel. The Academia Santista CIMZ fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Carlos Taffarel should have stopped the shot. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Roy Makaay in the 92nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Carlos Taffarel prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 93rd minute, Aloísio Alvarenga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Villaverde Celeste Clube had played much better football throughout.
