Cipriano Nóbrega hit a great freekick 2 minutes into the match. After 3 played minutes Catugi FC got a freekick which was hit by Cássio Matos. After 12 played minutes Catugi FC got a freekick which was hit by Kiko de Lima. 13 minutes into the game, Palmares Futebol Clube's Joãozinho Pernambucano nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Luizão Braga made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Joãozinho Pernambucano got free with Luizão Braga in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Luizão Braga made an important save on a dangerous shot by Joãozinho Pernambucano in the 18th minute. Joãozinho Pernambucano scored 2-0 in the 22nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Luizão Braga, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Palmares Futebol Clube's Leonardo Paz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Glauco de Amorim in the 28th minute of play. The referee felt a red card was in order, 36 minutes into the game, when Cássio Matos put in a rough tackle. 36 minutes into the game, one of Catugi FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The goalkeeper, Luizão Braga, was totally fooled by Palmares Futebol Clube's Cafu Donato, who 38 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. In the 41st minute, Maurinho Peres reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Luizão Braga. The goal made the score 5-0. Joãozinho Pernambucano hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. A collision led to Catugi FC getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Rômulo Romero hit a great ball. 47 minutes into the game, Cipriano Nóbrega cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 6-0. Luizão Braga was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Af the end of the first half the score was 6-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The supporters of Palmares Futebol Clube booed when Catugi FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rômulo Romero didn't get a good kick on the ball. 57 minutes into the match, Catugi FC's goal looked a bit too open when Cipriano Nóbrega came free, but Luizão Braga reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Palmares Futebol Clube's Dorian Nogueira got a free kick in the 58th minute. Raimundo Torres kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. 61 minutes into the match, Catugi FC's goal looked a bit too open when Oswaldo Sena came free, but Luizão Braga reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 62nd minute, Joãozinho Pernambucano ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Luizão Braga was frozen by the shot and now it was 7-0. Joãozinho Pernambucano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 67th minute, Alfredo Botelho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Joãozinho Pernambucano in the 70th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Luizão Braga saved Catugi FC from getting behind. 75 minutes into the game, Joãozinho Pernambucano was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Palmares Futebol Clube's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Catugi FC the free kick. Luizão Braga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joãozinho Pernambucano in the 78th minute of play. 79 minutes into the match, Cipriano Nóbrega notched a goal, 9-0, to the right of Catugi FC's Luizão Braga. Luizão Braga was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Luizão Braga took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ismael Secco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 92 minutes into the match, Catugi FC's goal looked a bit too open when Dorian Nogueira came free, but Luizão Braga reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luizão Braga showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joãozinho Pernambucano, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. When the referee ended the match the Palmares Futebol Clube players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
