The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Agua Santa's Tomé Mota played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Caio de Mendonça in the 3rd minute of play. Tomé Mota made an important save on a dangerous shot by Márcio Guedes in the 16th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Laércio Neves in the 21st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Delfim Bastos saved DENVER™ from getting behind. After a rather tough play, DENVER™'s Waldir Romero got a free kick in the 22nd minute. DENVER™'s Delfim Bastos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Enrique Abreu in the 28th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frank Rosa in the 34th minute of play forced DENVER™'s goalkeeper Delfim Bastos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 42 minutes into the game, Márcio Guedes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. DENVER™'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Agua Santa the free kick. After 42 played minutes DENVER™ got a freekick which was hit by Márcio Guedes. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Márcio Guedes to make the kick off. When Nuno Neves fell near the penalty area in the 52nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Agua Santa's protests and gave Nuno Neves a yellow card for diving instead. In the 52nd minute, Nuno Neves hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Agua Santa booed when DENVER™ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Waldir Romero didn't get a good kick on the ball.
