An unexpectedly hard shot by Hélder Trigo in the 6th minute of play forced Imbituba - FSCMZ's goalkeeper Rodriguinho de Queirós to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 7 played minutes Imbituba - FSCMZ got a freekick which was hit by William Breckenfeld. Anderson Valladares sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rodriguinho de Queirós stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dinei Silveira's shot from short distance in the 17th minute. Zé Augusto Peixoto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aloísio Catarinense in the 19th minute of play. In the 19th minute, José Carlos Medeiros hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Vascogoianiense FC's Zé Augusto Peixoto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aloísio Catarinense in the 20th minute of play. A collision led to Imbituba - FSCMZ getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Diguinho Magalhães hit a great ball. Hélder Trigo's late challenge caught a Imbituba - FSCMZ's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Hélder Trigo helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Vascogoianiense FC's Hélder Trigo got a free kick in the 24th minute. William Breckenfeld fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zé Augusto Peixoto having to interfere. The supporters of Vascogoianiense FC booed when Imbituba - FSCMZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Olívio Castro didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 44th minute, Aloísio Catarinense ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Zé Augusto Peixoto was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Diguinho Magalhães recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Cristóvão Linares to strike the kick off in the second half. Vitório de Medeiros kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. With a little luck, Vascogoianiense FC's Zé Augusto Peixoto got control of the ball when Cristóvão Linares tried to sneak it across the goal line. Raúl de Andrade kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hélder Trigo in the 62nd minute of play forced Imbituba - FSCMZ's goalkeeper Rodriguinho de Queirós to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Vascogoianiense FC defense, Cristóvão Linares kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Zé Augusto Peixoto. The Vascogoianiense FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Zé Augusto Peixoto should have stopped the shot. Hélder Trigo struck a weak shot in the 70th minute. Rodriguinho de Queirós didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vascogoianiense FC. In the 79th minute Aloísio Catarinense shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zé Augusto Peixoto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cristóvão Linares in the 81stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Zé Augusto Peixoto, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. The long shot by William Breckenfeld in the 83rd minute really tested Zé Augusto Peixoto's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by William Breckenfeld in the 86th minute of play forced Vascogoianiense FC's goalkeeper Zé Augusto Peixoto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rodriguinho de Queirós took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Anderson Valladares, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 93 minutes into the game, Cristóvão Linares cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Zé Augusto Peixoto was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The Imbituba - FSCMZ supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Imbituba - FSCMZ would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
