The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Cristóvão Linares scored 0-1 in the 13th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Benedito Vale, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Cristóvão Linares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Benedito Vale tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Frederico Britto's late challenge caught a Curiphila Eagles's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Frederico Britto helped the player get up and apologised. Frederico Britto hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. The supporters of Imbituba - FSCMZ booed when Curiphila Eagles was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Evandro Quirino didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Curiphila Eagles players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Imbituba - FSCMZ were winning 0-3.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Carlos Augusto Azevedo made a kick off. Benedito Vale showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cesinha Vieira in the 52nd minute of the match. The supporters of Curiphila Eagles booed when Imbituba - FSCMZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sérgio de Sena didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 56th minute, Cristóvão Linares ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Benedito Vale was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. When the match had gone on for 71 minutes, Cristóvão Linares put it in 0-6 from a short distance just to the right of Benedito Vale. The Imbituba - FSCMZ fans' excitement grew in the 75th match minute when Imbituba - FSCMZ's Cristóvão Linares looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-7 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Cristóvão Linares's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Benedito Vale read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 79th minute of play. In the 80th match minute, Imbituba - FSCMZ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Júnior Mattos to maneuver through the defense. Curiphila Eagles's Benedito Vale played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cesinha Vieira in the 82nd minute of play. The audience was convinced that Cristóvão Linares's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Benedito Vale was relentless in the 84th minute of the game. A collision led to Imbituba - FSCMZ getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Samuca Camargo hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Cristóvão Linares managed to get in a good position for a shot. Imbituba - FSCMZ's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristóvão Linares was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Benedito Vale breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Benedito Vale showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cesinha Vieira, who was totally free with the ball in the 98th minute. When the match was over Imbituba - FSCMZ could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Curiphila Eagles throughout the match.
