In the 10th minute Joel Quadros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luiz Fernando Matos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mathias Cosme kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. After 13 played minutes, MINEIROS's Wenceslao Taffarel shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Luiz Fernando Matos came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in MINEIROS reached it. Joel Quadros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Luiz Fernando Matos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 19th minute, Silas Pires hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 21st minute, MINEIROS's João Paraíba seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed João Paraíba the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of MINEIROS protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and João Paraíba had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. MINEIROS's Toninho Goiano managed to work through ≈SΞVĺЯΔ FC™'s defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Toninho Goiano dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. A collision led to ≈SΞVĺЯΔ FC™ getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Eriberto Peres hit a great ball. In the 41st minute, Christian Alves hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 47th minute Joel Quadros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luiz Fernando Matos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Egídio Arruda in the 72nd minute of play forced MINEIROS's goalkeeper Serginho Taffarel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 76 minutes into the game, Wenceslao Taffarel was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. MINEIROS's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave ≈SΞVĺЯΔ FC™ the free kick. MINEIROS's Nico de Mendonça was substituted for Benê Amorim. The supporters of ≈SΞVĺЯΔ FC™ booed when MINEIROS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wenceslao Taffarel didn't get a good kick on the ball. The ≈SΞVĺЯΔ FC™ fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. MINEIROS were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
