After a rather tough play, Merusca F&P - CIMZ's Cícero Diniz got a free kick in the 2nd minute. Nelsinho Marinho took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 3rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Rodriguinho Pernambucano. Merusca F&P - CIMZ's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 10th minute Ronaldo Pirani suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. 10 minutes into the game, Vânderson de Almeida was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Merusca F&P - CIMZ's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Palestra do Interior the free kick. In the 12th minute, Vânderson de Almeida hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Nelson Xavier came up free with the goalie in the 13th minute, the Palestra do Interior fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nelson Xavier couldn't finish the play. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edmílson Vidal, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. In the 19th minute, Christiano Palmeira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Luisão de Medeiros came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the Palestra do Interior fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luisão de Medeiros couldn't finish the play. After having played for 25 minutes, Nelsinho Marinho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Palestra do Interior's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nelsinho Marinho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante came out of the goal in the 27th minute to try and stop a shot by Merusca F&P - CIMZ's Ian Salles. But to his dismay, Ian Salles quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Natã Rosa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 30th minute of the match, but Antônio Carlos Cavalcante made a huge save. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edmílson Vidal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Edmílson Vidal recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 35th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Palestra do Interior getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Anísio Carneiro hit a great ball. The supporters of Merusca F&P - CIMZ booed when Palestra do Interior was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Doni Pimenta didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Nico Neves came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Merusca F&P - CIMZ fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nico Neves couldn't finish the play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Antônio Carlos Cavalcante showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ian Salles in the 51st minute of the match. After 51 played minutes Palestra do Interior got a freekick which was hit by Nelson Xavier. If Ian Salles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Merusca F&P - CIMZ's Rodriguinho Pernambucano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dênis Vander in the 68th minute of play. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ian Salles in the 70th minute of the match. Palestra do Interior's Serafim Simão was substituted for Ezequiel de Souza. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Natã Rosa, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. Dênis Vander sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nelsinho Marinho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Merusca F&P - CIMZ's Rodriguinho Pernambucano proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 82nd minute of the match, managed to save Merusca F&P - CIMZ from getting a goal against them. Palestra do Interior's Antônio Carlos Cavalcante played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Natã Rosa in the 88th minute of play. Dênis Vander sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. For all the effort they put into the match, the Palestra do Interior players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Merusca F&P - CIMZ.
