The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Miguel Botelho made the kick off in the second half. Nova Iguaçu MZFC were furious when José Paulo Batista was red carded, 50 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests.
