But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hílton Vander couldn't finish the play. Fábio de Godoi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sílvio Queirós, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. Mário Almeida took the ball and in the 16 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Abelardo Barreto. Abelardo Barreto dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. 23 minutes into the game, Mário Almeida was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Unidade Pinto Louco's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vila Zumbi the free kick. Mário Almeida kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. Gilvan Galvão hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. Acácio Domingues charged in rather forcefully in the 32nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. In a very dangerous position, a player in Unidade Pinto Louco fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 40th minute. Penalty! In the 41st minute there was a penalty for Vila Zumbi. Hílton Vander stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Fábio de Godoi. 1-1. Michel Duarte hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. Vila Zumbi's Hílton Vander couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 45th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Unidade Pinto Louco. In the 46th minute, Acácio Domingues hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Vivaldo Lago to make the kick off. In the 66th minute of the match Vila Zumbi got a corner. Unidade Pinto Louco's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Hílton Vander ran over to the corner to take the kick. After 66 played minutes Unidade Pinto Louco got a freekick which was hit by Mário Almeida. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Hílton Vander managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vila Zumbi's supporters rose to their feet, but Hílton Vander was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fábio de Godoi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Fábio de Godoi made a fantastic save in the 76th minute, when Sílvio Queirós sent off a good shot on target. Mário Almeida scored 2-1 in the 77th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Abelardo Barreto, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Sílvio Queirós could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 87th minute of the match, but Fábio de Godoi made a huge save. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Raí Branco in the 96th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Fábio de Godoi prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The Unidade Pinto Louco players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
