Cesate's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sorci Viola the free kick. In the 9th match minute, Cesate was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adriano Di Marco to maneuver through the defense. Arturo Bonelli's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Bruno Carciofo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 9th minute of play. The supporters of Sorci Viola booed when Cesate was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ernesto De Lucia didn't get a good kick on the ball. 13 minutes into the game, Beppe Zoff cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Bruno Carciofo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a rather tough play, Cesate's Fausto Donato got a free kick in the 18th minute. 20 minutes into the game, Anfilogino Chiola recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Bruno Carciofo. Anfilogino Chiola showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-0. When Amerigo Toninelli came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the Sorci Viola fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Amerigo Toninelli couldn't finish the play. 39 minutes into the game, Amerigo Toninelli was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sorci Viola's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Claudio Manzoni was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Beppe Zoff in the 52nd minute of play forced Cesate's goalkeeper Bruno Carciofo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 54th minute Edmondo Bertini shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bruno Carciofo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Beppe Zoff had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cesate's Bruno Carciofo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anfilogino Chiola in the 60th minute of play. After 61 played minutes Cesate got a freekick which was hit by Adriano Di Marco. Bruno Carciofo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Beppe Zoff, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. The supporters of Sorci Viola booed when Cesate was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Enzo Grifoni didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 64th minute Beppe Zoff shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bruno Carciofo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Sorci Viola booed when Cesate was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cristoforo Talamo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Bruno Carciofo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Enzo Pellegrini in the 74th minute of play. In the 78th minute, Anfilogino Chiola hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Eraldo Di Matteo's late challenge caught a Sorci Viola's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Eraldo Di Matteo helped the player get up and apologised. Amerigo Toninelli fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bruno Carciofo having to interfere. Bruno Carciofo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anfilogino Chiola, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. If Frank Magliocco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When the referee ended the match the Sorci Viola players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
