The referee ignored FC Bredene's protests and gave Teun Leemans a yellow card for diving instead. Teun Leemans hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. In the 32nd minute of the match Carl Van Kamp sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Peter Bautmans skillfully saved the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Otto Fenomeno kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Luc Van Hinnendael. That made the score 2-0 in the 40 minute of play. Otto Fenomeno struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Luc Van Hinnendael didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Bredene. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Luc Van Hinnendael showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Otto Fenomeno, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. Otto Fenomeno sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 65th minute Otto Fenomeno shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luc Van Hinnendael saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luc Van Hinnendael took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Otto Fenomeno, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 80th minute, Xavies Muñagorri made a precise shot to the right of Peter Bautmans. FC Bredene's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. 86 minutes into the game, Otto Fenomeno cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-2. Luc Van Hinnendael was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a rather tough play, FC Bredene's Dany-Adams Wauters got a free kick in the 95th minute. FC Bredene's Peter Bautmans played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mac Mon in the 97th minute of play. A nice corner shot did that Lasse Kroner got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Peter Bautmans quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. FC Bruges's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
